The ART for CRY exhibition, held at the beginning of December in the Breadalbane Community Campus library, was hugely successful in raising both funds for the charity and awareness of its aims.
To date, £1,781 has been sent to CRY(Cardiac Risk in the Young) from thhe exhibition, which is a wonderful contribution to the charity.
Awareness was also raised very successfully, both locally and nationally, with the exhibition coinciding with the CRY postcard launch at the Scottish parliament.
This was a very powerful event organised by CRY, hosted by John Swinney and included politicians, medical professionals and parents who have lost a child as a result of an undiagnosed heart condition.
Gordon and Hazel Murch are very grateful to all in the local community and wider who have supported the exhibition and/or the postcard launch in any way. Postcards are still available at the campus library and GP’s surgery.

February Event                                                                                                                                                        At the CRY postcard launch on 1 December, Professor Stuart Hillis of Gasgow University, spoke about a pilot screening programme for young athletes (CAYA) based in Glasgow. His team now offers satellite clinics to all of young people throughout Scotland.
As a result, a cardiac screening event has been organised to take place in Breadalbane Academy on 26 February.
Professor Hillis will speak to senior pupils on 31 January, explaining what is involved. After his presentation, pupils will have the opportunity to be screened in the community campus at the end of February.
For further information contact Gordon or Hazel Murch via Breadalbane Community Campus.
