13 January 2011

A range of activities and events for people of all ages has been lined up at the new Breadalbane Community Library in January.
Bookbug sessions will be held every Wednesday at the Library between 11-11.30am. The free, friendly and fun sessions of songs, rhymes and stories for babies, toddlers and their parents and carers will help baby language skills and provide building blocks for future learning. It’s also a great place to meet other local parents and toddlers.
A free craft session for children aged 5-12 will be held at the Community Library on Tuesday 25 January between 4.00-5.30pm. The session will be hosted by regular visitor to the library June McEwan.

Burns Events
Two events to celebrate the work of Robert Burns have been organised at the end of January.‘Burns, Billy and Rod’, on Friday 28 January, will see award-winning broadcaster Billy Kay joined by one of Scotland’s finest traditional singers, Rod Paterson. The pair will provide an evening of music, poetry, story and song celebrating Burns and the influence of Scottish culture around the world. Tickets costs £5 and are available from the Library. The fun starts at 7.30pm.
Then, on Saturday 29 January, award-winning children’s author Lari Don will talk about her prose reworkings of the classic Burns poem Tam O’Shanter. There will be readings and a large helping of spooky stories. The event starts at 2pm and is free for kids aged between 9-12.
