Film Society’s Packed Programme
Written by Editor
12 January 2012

Heartland Film Society has lots of good things on offer in February and March. The acclaimed documentary on the 2008 financial crash, ‘Inside Job’, at the beginning of the month, is followed by the AGM on February 24, at 7.00 pm in the Breadalbane Campus (note change of date).
The post-meeting film, ‘The Guard’, is a comedy thriller starring Brendan Gleeson as a Connemara cop. There’s action aplenty, but the film’s true joy lies in its complex characters and sharp humour. The evening also provides an opportunity to experience the up-to-date facilities of the Campus Assembly Hall.
On 1 and 2 March it's back to the Locus Centre with ‘Never Let Me Go’, featuring Keira Knightly, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield as youngsters growing up together at an English boarding school.
The sinister destiny for which they are being prepared emerges gradually in this thought provoking film - part love story, part sci-fi - based on the novel by Kazuo Ishiguro.

Double Bill
Aberfeldy Town Hall, at 5.00pm on Sunday 11 March, is the venue for what promises to be a most enjoyable mini film-fest – a double bill of ‘Jean de Florette’ and ‘Manon des Sources’. Whether they’re new to you or you already have fond memories, do come along and enjoy the films in a café style setting, accompanied by light refreshments. Watch out for posters with full details.
Films are usually shown on the first Thursday and Friday of the month at the Locus Centre, Aberfeldy. All welcome. Contact details: The Membership Secretary, Locus Centre, The Square, Aberfeldy, PH15 2DD, email: CLOAKING or see: www.heartlandfilmsociety.org.uk
