Ross Pettie, a late night party DJ and Karaoke host, will have to adapt to a new working regime from the end of the month. He’s taking over the early slot on Saturday mornings at Heartland FM.
altFrom 29 October Ross, (28), will have to set his alarm clock and order in the orange juice. With an eye-wateringly early 7am start, he’ll take the radio mic until 10 o’clock. Rewind with Ross (pictured) will be bringing all the best songs from across the decades to Heartland’s audience across Perthshire.
For the last 11 years, he’s been burning the midnight oil, bringing disco tunes to partygoers. Now he’s agreed to be the rise and shine sound of Saturdays, bringing a smile to his audience as they come around after Friday night.  “My favourite music era is 50’s and 60’s rock n’ roll. I also love Motown -  I was born in the wrong era!”
Ross dabbled in youth radio in Edinburgh when he was 16, but moved off to do other things. Now more than a decade later, he’s returned to radio with some impressive music credentials.
Perhaps the most challenging experience was three seasons doing cabaret in Blackpool. “The cabaret work had me singing all the great songs from the ‘50s to ‘80’s in clubs and pubs.” says Ross.
“Doing radio is something I’ve always wanted to do. I’m really looking forward to joining the team at Heartland.”
He warmed up for his new role in live radio when he sat in for Stevie, doing his Alive in the Afternoon show between 2-4pm from 11 October.
Tune into Rewind with Ross, Saturdays from 7am, on Heartland FM 97.5Fm and 106.6FM or listen online atwww.heartlandfm.co.uk
