The annual Modern Print Masters show at the Watermill Gallery in Aberfeldy this year from 1 october to 12 December features contemporary Scottish works alongside those by European masters.
During the year, Gallery owners Kevin and Jayne Ramage travel to London and further afield to source prints while on the lookout for key pieces as well as unexpected finds.
Reflecting the magnificent exhibition at Tate Modern, this show features a selection of works by Miro. There are also three screenprints by the late John Hoyland and a dramatic three-sheet woodblock image by Sir Terry Frost.
In addition, the exhibition showcases prints by contemporary Scottish artists, with two beautiful pieces by Edinburgh artist Scott Campbell, plus works by Barbara Rae, Alan Davie, Adrian Wiszniewski and Kate Downie.
Kevin and Jayne Ramage’s view is that, rather than recession-denial in these uncertain times, art is one of life’s more pleasurable acquisitions and, accordingly, thay have garnered works fitting a range of budgets - from large, key pieces to a series of vibrant, very affordable lithographs by Miro.
“The scope of this exhibition is wide – without compromising on the benchmark of quality set in previous years”, Kevin Ramage said. “There will be over 50 works by more than 30 artists from Britain and Europe on display.
“If you are a print collector, or want to make that first ‘special purchase’ you won’t be disappointed by what’s on offer, and in the present climate, better to have your money hanging on the walls than in the bank!”
